This project started off with writing exercises. We had to come up with personal narratives that we would work with. Mine was a story of my first night out and explored the idea that not all that glitters is gold.

This project started off with writing exercises. We had to come up with personal narratives that we would work with. Mine was a story of my first night out and explored the idea that not all that glitters is gold.

The remainder of the semester was spent exploring various layouts and type treatments. My narrative was about nightlife and how the night transitions from a good time to "nothing good happens after 2 am".
I chose imagery that showcased both sides and the in-between "I'm tired but don't want to leave in case I miss anything" mood.

Throughout the process, the narrative changed from being about a fun rebellious night out to realizing that musicians/famous people/anyone put on a pedestal struggle and their fame brings a whole new set of issues and how sometimes it's better to be a mere mortal. By the end of the semester, we had to have 15 resolved layouts and a total of 58 explorations. Eight out of the final fifteen are shown.
