NSCAD GRAD CATALOGUE

For the 2015 NSCAD University Graduation Catalogue, I created a visual representation of NSCAD’s kaleidoscope by using the lion statues and a variety of marks. The colours were chosen to represent the diversity of the NSCAD community. Each colour variation creates a triad that links to NSCAD's motto: head, heart, hand.

The full scope of the project includes a print and online catalogue, promotional material and graphics for the exhibition. This project is part of an internship at The Anna Leonowens Gallery.

The kaleidoscope pattern was applied to all promotional material including the Catalogue Launch and Family Night invitations, event signage, temporary tattoos, bookmarks and a cake!

To collect all the necessary information from students, I redesigned the catalogue and exhibition forms. To make the forms more useful and efficient I split the layout into 3 sections: one section with all the information they need including dates, contact info and a checklist, another section to fill in their contact information and details about their submissions, and a final section that would be cut out and attached to the CD, DVD or USB they submitted their work on. Once they submitted their application, students would keep the information section as a reminder of important upcoming dates.

In addition to event materials, the kaleidoscope pattern was also used for NSCAD President Dianne Taylor-Gearing's Inauguration Ceremony gown

I proposed the creation of an online catalogue to accompany the printed materials. I had several friends in the film department voice their concern when I urged them to submit work since their medium doesn't translate well to print. The film department had not participated in the catalogue because of that reason and I wanted to make sure all aspects and departments of the university were represented. The online catalogue provided each student with their own artist page where they can showcase numerous works and link to their website or social media. The site also housed all the graduation event images and a shop to purchase current and previous catalogues.
